I have recently started down the path of becoming a local pastor... Being in NJ I sometimes think I am the only conservative... (Funny I know when you check out the church website...)

It pains me however to see a church that struggles to stick to not only moral values - but Scriptural values. 45% voted against the re-writing of Para 161G, which spoke to the issue of homosexuality.

I am hearing so often those who are preaching from Max Lucado and others - rather than out of the Bible.

"Faith comes by Hearing and Hearing by the word of ...?"

Is it any wonder that many of our laity and perhaps even our clergy would struggle to answer that last statement out of the Bible?
I love the UM Church - and would love to make a change within the system however, I am waining - I doubt I will be given the opportunity...

Alas - we will have Wesleyan Values even if this church plant is not UM.

One last note - If we are a connectional church then why break off from the others - making the US its own... that scares me...
