Dear Friends,

One of the outstanding laymen in our denomination, a man who has given millions of dollars to The United Methodist Church, recently told me that he felt the greatest need in our Church today is authentic and effective leadership. We must be demonstrating leadership and developing leaders!

The Confessing Movement is providing leadership in The United Methodist Church today. We feel very good about the kind of leadership we have given in informing conference members about Constitutional Amendments being presented at Annual Conferences this summer. We wanted to be fair and accurate in our assessment of the ramifications of these amendments. We also wanted to be bold in encouraging members to vote “yes” for some amendments and to vote “no” on other amendments.

The early results show that the leadership of The Confessing Movement has had an impact in the process by which we function.

I want to thank you for your prayers and financial support for The Confessing Movement. We now have some other large challenges before us.

Leadership always requires financial support. It takes money to provide venues where leadership ideas can be offered and developed. It takes money to write and produce materials. It takes money to offer leadership.
